I wrote about Foals artwork a few months ago after I went to one of their gigs. I've found a few more examples of their beautiful artwork that I just couldn't resist posting. The illustrations are by Tinhead, a 21 year old student and illustrator from Brighton, who has been described as "the sixth member of the band". Foals Front man Yannis, says of Tinhead;
"He creates something visual that matches what we want the music to sound like, there are all these weird lines, humming birds and bright colours."
Tinhead is clearly a very talented illustrator, I'm hoping we'll see lots more of his work in the future.

Fetish by Louboutin and Lynch

Christian Louboutin and filmmaker David Lynch have collaborated on a exhibition called Fetish, it showed a few months ago at Galerie du Passage in Paris (sorry, this is probably old news now). The shoes themselves are quite incredible creations, Louboutin wanted to experiment with the image of shoes as objects of pleasure, with no practicality whatsoever.
'Making these shoes is closer to my primary joy, my drawing, because they’re devoted to static pleasure; there’s no motion, they’re for the bed. Real-life shoes are less like your imagination.'
The images are incredibly strong and beautifully provocative, this is very definitely art.
Wouldn't you like to try those shoes, just to see?

I made muffins

I made some muffins today, I made half the batch blueberry and the other half coffee and white chocolate. Here's my recipe:
200g Self-raising flour
100g Caster sugar
100ml Sunflower oil
75ml Milk
1 Large egg
1 0r 2 drops vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 190°C . Beat up all the ingredients together then add blueberries or chocolate or whatever you like. Bake for about 15 minutes then cool on a wire rack. Makes 10-12 muffins.
Enjoy!

Socks and shoes

I wore the yellow shoes with socks under jeans last year and when I saw the Anna Sui Spring 08 collection, I thought I might try wearing them with a skirt. Sadly, as I really don't have model legs, I just can't get away with it! I really like the idea though.

By Hand

I've always loved to draw type and I used to carefully practice my handwriting when I was little. Since I left Art School and started work as a designer nearly all the type I use now is digital. I've only just realised how much I miss drawing and creating letters. When I saw Hand Job: A Catalog of Type by Michael Perry, I had to get myself a copy. It's an absolutely delightful book, with page after page of yummy hand drawn type. It's given me all sorts of ideas and inspiration already.

James Jean Illustrations for Prada

I just love these beautiful illustrations for Prada by James Jean (I believe they are all his anyway!). He has also worked on a short film for Prada with Jared Purrington, Trembled Blossoms.

Brownie

We had a nice quiet day at work today so I made the most of it and started designs for a new font, I've called it Brownie. I drew the letters by hand, scanned them and then traced them in Illustrator. Hopefully I'll get round to finishing it one day.

Biscuits of Love

We don't do much for Valentines day but I made Mr Brown some heart shaped biscuits. He gave me a beautiful paper weight with a white rose inside, much better than real flowers.

Pale away

I like this seasons pale denim, seen at Alexander Wang SS08 (top) and filtering down to the high street at Topshop (middle). But before I rushed out to buy some I thought I'd try bleaching a pair I already had, after a couple of attempts they were exactly the shade I wanted. Here's how I did it:
Half a bucket of warm water with half a bottle of household bleach mixed in (mix it well before you put the jeans in)
I left them to soak for about 3 hours, but I checked them regularly. It's good to move them around and keep them completely submerged if you want an even result.
Once they were roughly the shade I wanted I put them in the washing machine with some detergent. Then after they dried I washed them again because they were still a bit smelly.
Voila! Perfectly pale jeans for the price of a bottle of bleach.
Please don't rely on my method if you want to bleach your own jeans, try here for instructions.

BW teaser by Julien Vallée

Julien Vallée is a freelance graphic & motion designer from Montreal, Canada. He first caught my eye when I saw this teaser for Black and White. I have a bit of thing for artists and designers who create things with paper. It's even more exciting when they are magically brought to life through animation.

Spoilt for choice

I don't want to choose between these lovely patent ombre t-bars from Topshop. I think the gradient is more obvious on the black and white so maybe I'll go for those... but the fuschia is gorgeous too... and turquoise is my favourite colour...
