This is a one off, hand painted dog by Ian Stevenson from the 'Best Wishes Get Well Soon' exhibition. Seeing as I can't get my hands on the real thing I might try and make my own. Does anyone know where I can buy large plain white ceramic animals? No? Damn.

Brand new (to me)

We don't have an American Apparel in my home city so when I was in London for work recently it was on my list of shops to visit. It wasn't so much the clothes that I was interested in, although they are brilliant basics, it's the branding that I like. The heavy Helvetica typography, block rainbow colour and dirty amateurish photography is just really doing it for me.

Kate Moross Rocks

It's really exciting to see Topshop have commissioned a signature range of printed t-shirts, vests and jumpers by young Graphic Designer Kate Moross. She's only 21 but her portfolio is seriously impressive, she's produced a huge amount of exciting and intricate work. Kate talks about her collection and her inspiring approach to design on the Topshop site.

Blue Monday
Today is statistically the most depressing day of the year, Blue Monday. So to, erm, cheer myself up, I've found some nice blue things to look at. The really depressing thing is I can't afford any of them.
1. Topshop Bleach Wash Skinny Jean
2. Hermès Silk Twill Scarf
3. Legge & Braine D'Abyss Medusa Ring
4. Sergio Rossi Round Toe Platform Pumps
5. Uniqlo Pantone blue cashmere
6. Marc Jacobs Klein patchwork tote

How do I look?

I couldn't resist watching Breakfast at Tiffany's again when it was on television yesterday. I actually think I've subconsciously been channeling Holly Golightly these last few weeks, wearing a pair of pearl earrings, a funnel neck coat and a (faux) fur hat! There are worse people to subconsciously channel I'm sure...

Polka dots & bows

The detail that caught my eye in the Marc by Marc Jacobs Ready- to-Wear was the long scarf tied in a big bow. I realise this isn't the most imaginative collection, it also got quite a slating from Vogue, but I actually really like it. I love the colour palette and the details like the chunky gold stone bracelets. I've got some eBay goodies, the red skirt and the polka dot blouse, coming in the post, so I can have a go at creating some similar outfits. The scarf and the sweater I've had for ages so I'm glad I held onto them. I might post some photos if I'm feeling brave!

Vintage Earrings

I found these vintage clip-ons on eBay and won them for 99p, bargain. I couldn't quite tell what they were like from the listing but I'm really pleased with them, especially the big stones.

Bangles

Another photo from the same shoot in Vogue UK (see previous post). I'm never much of a fan of animal print but I think it works well in brown and blue. The skinny belt and the bangle details I like too.
Happily, I already have four very similar bangles so I can steal that part of the look. I don't know if I'll be able to cope with that much on my arm though!

Flared trousers

Having spent the last couple of years or so in skinnies I think I'm ready for a change. I'm not completely ditching them just yet but I'm really starting to like the flared and high waisted seventies style. The photo (left) from this months Vogue UK is my inspiration. The trousers in the photo are denim jeans by Goldsign and the silk top is by Erdem. I'm not sure I'm into the idea of flared denim yet. So, although sadly they're not in my price range, I'd prefer something more subtle and softer like the grey Chloe trousers. I love that Erdem top and long chunky stone pendant too.

Happy new shoes!

I picked up a little bargain in the Topshop sale, these were half the original price. I love the Balenciaga-esque ankle strap and the dusty grey distressed finish. Mr Brown thought they looked hot too, but he hasn't seen them with the grey school socks. Happy new year everyone!
